Taught by people who still do the work
Every module at the Institute has a named lead who is accountable for its content, its currency and its assessment. The majority of our teaching faculty hold substantive clinical or academic posts alongside their work with us — which is why the teaching stays close to practice.
Faculty are appointed against published criteria covering subject expertise, teaching experience, current registration where relevant, and safeguarding clearance.
Clinicians, educators, researchers and simulation specialists working across the six academic schools.

How we appoint faculty
Criteria for appointment
Candidates must hold a qualification at or above the level they will teach, demonstrate current subject expertise, and hold valid professional registration where the role involves clinical teaching. Teaching experience or a recognised teaching qualification is required for programme leads.
Induction and development
All new faculty complete an induction covering our assessment framework, academic integrity policy, accessibility expectations and safeguarding. Ongoing faculty development is provided through the Department of Medical Education.
Review and feedback
Teaching is peer-observed at least annually and learner feedback is shared with each faculty member after every module. Programme leads hold an annual academic review with the Dean.
Conflicts of interest
Faculty declare commercial and professional interests annually. Anyone with a personal relationship to a candidate or learner is excluded from admissions and assessment decisions affecting them.
